So I took my English final today. This consisted of writing an essay in two hours which replied to one of two prompts (neither of which we knew before). The prompt I choose was about changing terms, such as "black" to "African-AMerican" and such to try and stop prejudice in the world. My basic thesis was that, while it would be nice to rid the world of prejudice, forcing people to change their vocabulary isn't going to do that. I mean, just because you make someone call a black person an "African_american" instead of maybe "nigger" doesn't mean that man will start to see that person as an equal. Also, I brought up points of freedom of speech, even if you don't like the speech, etc.

I was finished with my paper, and I must say it was pretty damn good. Still, I didn't really like my opening paragraph (basically saying "It's hard not to hear prejudice words, especially now when political correctness is at its height blah blah blah"). SO I was reading the line about "political correctness" and suddenly thought about it. And it was soooo right

Avenue Q.

"Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" was perfect for this! Now I didn't quote the entire song, but I mentioned what it was about and talked about the Brian/Christmas Eve section (Oriental...Asian-American). My opening paragraph was an entire page in itself.

Then at the end of the paper, I mentioned that the end of the song says "If we all could just admit, that we are racist a little bit, and everyone stop being so PC, maybe we could live in harmony."

Wow. To fit Avenue Q into an essay. Woo!

Oh! Blakely seemed to like this so...*thows English notes into the air*

Two more!
