Feb. 8th, 2006 03:19 pmI said "What about 'Breakfast at Tiffany's?'"
She said "I think I remember that film
And as I recall, I think, we both kind of liked it."
And I said "Well, that's something we've got."
Fuck VH1 for making that #7 on their list of Awesomely Bad Songs. It's a classic.
So because I awoke today with The Mean Reds, I skipped class. Yes, I know how stupid it is, you don't need to tell me. It's just been one of those days.
I went online looking at the thousands of scholarships I could apply to and got to work picking out the best and most applicable ones.
I decided to go to Target in hopes that they had Without You. They didn't. Surprise.
As I scanned the films in Target, I saw the it. It wasn't a Tiffany's, but it was the next best thing and possibly the thing I needed to chase The Mean Reds away. Breakfast at Tiffany's Anniversary Edition DVD. I could feel Audrey calling out to me.
As I left Target, I realized it had begun to snow slightly. By the time I reached the Harrison stop on the El, it was snowing furiously. If there is one thing I've learned during my time in Chicago, it's that you cannot posssibly be sad when it snows. You just can't.
I dropped off film from God only knows when to get developed and walked to B&N in hopes of finding Without You. Again, they were sold out.
Not to be discouraged, I walked to Borders. They had just sold the last copy. I'm honestly beginning to think there's a conspiracy going on here. They did say they were getting a shipment in soon, though.
All in all, this day wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had promised Colleen to check the callback list for her when I went to class, so I feel a little guilty that I didn't go to class...
For now I think I'm going to enjoy some Moon River.
Edit: So I think Colleen is a bit pissed at me. *sigh* I feel bad, but at the same time, I'm not going to walk all the way down there just to see if she got a callback. Yes, I should have gone to class today, but I honestly couldn't get myself to. I don't know. It'll blow over eventually.

So freakin awesome!
Feb. 8th, 2006 11:28 pmI had basically resigned myself to a night in the dorm. Suddenly, Wes calls me:
Him: Hey...You know Anthony Rapp is in town doing his book signing, right?
Me: Yeah, I want to go but I don't know who to go with.
Him: Well...I'm really close to your building right now...
Me:...I'll be down in five seconds.
I don't think I have ever moved so quickly.
We took the green line to the very end and began searching for the small bookstore (passing a Borders on the way). When we got there, nothing had started, but there was a sign up which read "Sorry, we are out of Without You."
Us: Fuck!
We ran to the Borders, hoping to get one there, but they were sold out too.
We re-entered the store, slightly dejected. After a couple of minutes, the woman announced that they had three books left at the sales counter. Throngs of us rushed (ok, so only like ten of us).
Me: I need it for a paper I'm writing!
After much discussion, they handed the three of them out. I got one.
Anthony came out and read a chapter form his book (Glory, if anyone is interested). He then answered questions. When it got down to the last couple, he let the lady who ran the store pick who got to ask.
Her: Well that girl in red has had her hand up for a long time.
Yes, I was the girl in red. I asked if he was planning to write anymore in the future. He said he was and that he had some ideas. He thanked me for asking (He didn't thank anyone else for their question *ahem*). He serenaded us with an acapella, solo rendition of Seasons of Love and then came time for the signing. They asked us to form one line. Yeah, right.
I made a deal with Wes since he didn't have the book. I'd get Anthony to sign the inside for me and ask him to sign the (removable) cover for Wes. Then, when Wes got the book, we'd just switch covers.
We stood in line for almost two hours. Behind us was this older couple, who kept talking about whether or not Anthony was going to meet them after. Later, the woman went to sit on a stool and toppled over. Wes helped her up and I asked if she was ok. She was and thanked Wes. As it turns out, the man was Anthony's uncle and the woman (I assume) was his aunt. How cool?
As I neared the front, a girl walked by wearing a shirt that said "Member of the IMDb Chat Room"
Me: Hey! You post on IMDb?
Her: Yeah.
Me: I do too!
Her: What's your name?
Me: BroadwayBookworm.
Her: You know, I thought to myself 'The only person I have a chance of seeing is BroadwayBookworm. WOuldn't it be cool if we saw each other?"
Me: Who are you?
Her: No one really knows me. I'm GrizabellaLover.
Me: 92!
Her: Yeah.
Me: Of course I know you.
Her: Yeah. You're one of the coolest people on there. (I swear she said that)
Me: So are you.
We said our goodbyes. Wes then proceeded to tease me for the remainder of the night, continually saying "You're so cool!"
When we got up there, I told him my name, and asked him to sign the cover for Wes. We took a picture and I shook his hand, thanking him.
Wes had some friends who said they'd give us a ride home. The guy who knew where they were going had left, so we were on our own. We took a wrong turn and ended up going toward Indiana, but quickly got back on the road.
Considering I woke up today with a case of The Mean Reds, this day has turned out to be fan-fucking-tastic. That is all.
Good night!
Edit: Here's the picture!
