"For a show you claim to not be a fan of, you're certainly doing a lot of defending of it. I know for a fact you don't have the same reaction when people criticize Wicked, so I must have hit a nerve somewhere. The Producers' Tony year wasn't particularly competitive. Had it opened in the 2003-2004 season, I doubt it would have the sweep and Tony record it brags about now.
The Producers is a parody, first and foremost, then musical theater. The King of Broadway isn't a strong song, it's a blatant take-off of Fiddler. You know nothing about me, what I do, who has influenced my opinions, etc. so don't assume that my view of the musical theatre community is "closed-minded" just because I happen to have strong opinions on it. I know individuals that see hundreds of shows each year and feel the same way, so I don't see how that doesn't give them a slight edge in discerning strong musical theatre scores over some random "I hated Rent because it's not catchy like Chicago" poster on IMDB. If you think I'm such a horrible person for disagreeing with people's opinions, you should really read LaChiusa's view on The Producers and Hairspray. This isn't Montessori school; I can tell people they're wrong/stupid/uninformed if I believe they are. If that's too much for you to handle, then I can't imagine you'll be too successful in the theatre world.
As for your education...you'll probably just cry "personal attack", but it is my opinion, as well as the opinion of my friends, colleagues, professors and mentors, that Columbia's musical theatre program is hardly anything to brag about."
So...you can attack me (despite knowing nothing about me) because I have strong opinions, but heaven forbid I should say anything about you? Hey pot, this is the kettle: You're black. Hypocrisy does nothing but make your arguement seem even weaker than it did before. I don't need to know what you do and who your influences are to know you're a fucking child. Just seeing you post once on the board "You have zero taste if you think The Producers has a stronger score than Rent" is enough ton convince me. Stop whining just because I made you look like an ass. It wasn't hard.
