So today was the Science Club canoe trip. While I may no longer be a student at Hannan High, I am still a member of the Science Club (at least as long as Westfall is in charge of it).

We all met at Hannan for 8:30 this morning (yes, I willingly woke up at 7:30am). I ended up riding with Jill, Mark, Blakely, and Blane on the way to Wayne's World (name of canoe place). Of course, I proveded entertainment with my nifty Spamalot CD.

Blakely was initially the navigator, but after almost giving Jill the wrong directions, Mark decided to take over. We had lost the others when we stopped for gas, so we were relying on the directions we had been given. After a while, we realized we weren't seeing the exit we were supposed to take. However, we kept going. Then, we see a sign in the distance:

"Welcome to Mississippi!"

Us:...

We called Westfall and found that we had taken a wrong turn. He gave us directions on how to get back on track.

Along the way (after Spamalot had finished) we were listening to Jill's Fantasma (sp?) CD and "Beauty and the Beast" started playing.

Mark: Isn't that kind of gross? I mean, what would it be like to have to share a bathroom with that guy?

Me: Well, you're dating Jill.

Mark: But we don't live together. And what do you think their kids are gonna look like?

Me: I don't think they can reproduce; they're two differnt species.

Blane: They can reproduce because it's Disney.

Mark: Ew! That's even worse!

Me: Disney's promoting Beastiality!

This triggered a discussion about how sick the Disney films are (i.e. Snow White lives with seven little men who sing "Hi ho"; in Peter Pan in order to "fly" you must use "pixie dust"; Cinderella sends the message that if you're ugly, it means you're mean and if you're pretty, it means you're nice).

After finally reaching the place, we paired off and Blakely and I ended up together. I think it took us about ten minutes to carry our canoe to the water (we weren't allowed to drag it). Blakely is an "expert canoer" so we stayed [pretty much ahead of everyone during most of the trip. To be honest it was nice. I mean, some of the people who came on the trip were extremely LOUD and I just liked enjoying nature (minus the bugs that seemed attracted to me).

We stopped twice for a lunch and swim break. The second time, though, the sky seemed to be getting darker. Then, it started to rain. We hurried into our canoes and took off (though to be honest, I kind of enjoyed the drizzle).

We reached the end and waited for everyone else to arrive. After a little while, only four people were missing. After another ten miuntes, they were still missing. And it was pouring down.

Finally, they showed up. Apparently, there had been a lot of people tipping over in their canoes, which always seems to happen.

I am exhausted and thrilled that school is over.

I am still praying for that job too!
