Sep. 1st, 2005 09:06 amI just talked with my dad. He said he's going to the airport to try and get back for the 7th. When he does, he said he'd bring me to a bookstore (thank God!) and get me some more clothes. He said he had a gift for me (a pink butterfly choker I had wanted last time I was in D.C. but I didn't get a chance to get). We're also going to try and get some furniture into my grandfather's old house.
My dad said it may be sooner before we can start rebuilding our home. I hope so. My dog is freaking out. My dad said we should volunteer for Red Cross. I think so too.
I also got to the UNO website:
Dear UNO Community:
As you know, New Orleans and the surrounding parishes have been severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Conditions in the city of New Orleans continue to worsen which makes it impossible to begin recovery efforts. We sincerely hope that you and your family are in a safe location.
We cannot determine at this time when employees and students can return to campus. An emergency version of the University's main website is now operating at this time.
This web location http://www.uno.edu is the official website for the University of New Orleans. Information will be added to this site every few hours as it becomes available.

Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities Adopt Measure To Help Students Affected By Katrina...
I don't mind so much. I wasn't worried about not being able to go back to school for a semester; I was just worried about losing my scholarship if I didn't go back this semester. When my brother took a semester off at Loyola, he lost his. However, I think this is different. I'm doing it because of a natural disaster; he did it out of laziness.
