Sep. 30th, 2005 02:46 pmSo I'm sitting in my Mythology class when my teacher walks in. I don't notice it at first, but I soon see a book which he has placed upon the table:
Son of a Witch.
*headdesk* I. Cannot. Believe. I. Forgot.
Class was great. We talked about Apollonianism compared to Dionysusism (i.e. Order compared to chaos). An example he gave of these two combined in art is American Psycho (Bateman has a very orderly life but also thrives to create chaos).
Other examples given were Rocky Horror Picture Show and Lord of the Flies.
I was told I was very smart because I brought up Cabaret (i.e. Sally lives in a limbo of sorts where there is little reality whereas Cliff lives in the real world).
After class I high-tailed it to Barnes & Noble to pick up my own copy of Son of a Witch. Only got through the first five chapters, but so far so good.
The UC is selling tickets to Wicked for $10 (but only one ticket per resident). They are also going to hold a witch costume contest and the winner gets two tickets to the show and a copy of the book. They'll be showing The Wizard of Oz and everyone who attends is put into a drawing to win tickets for the show.
My mom is going to try to come up here one weekend in October and we'll try to go see the show.
