I just want to comment on something.

Go Ask Alice isn't in the "Alice" series that I believe you're thinking of. It's a different book. It is an autobiographical account of an unknown person that details the life of her as she becomes heavily entrenched with drug usage. It's a very powerful book and I recommend it highly.
